On Tuesday the 13th of June, Korean game studio Catze Labs launched the early access phase of its newest title, Trouble Punk: Cyber Galz. Set to be the flagship title of Catze’s new distribution platform Yooldo, Trouble Punk is one of the most promising titles in a new generation of blockchain-enhanced games. The developer is taking advantage of Venly’s Wallet API to introduce various novel gameplay and player engagement mechanics into Trouble Punk. Trouble Punk: Cyber Galz adopts a battle royale-style gameplay format, where players engage in thrilling fights with a diverse array of weapons and strategies. The game's combat challenges offer players the opportunity to earn in-game rewards. Players battle opponents within a set time frameand compete for the top spot. This dynamic aspect of the game adds an extra layer of excitement and competitiveness, keeping players engaged and striving for victory.

Trouble Punk is designed to be easy to learn but hard to master. The game has a stated onboarding time of 5 minutes, allowing players to get in on the action without worrying about complicated blockchain technology.

How blockchain builds the game

The game is free to play. To participate in league matches and compete for prizes, however, players will need to pay. After a league concludes, the players receive rewards from a league pool, with the top 80 players receiving the most based on their ranking.

The game also includes a Building Mode, where players can create game levels and 3D models. Builders are rewarded based on the popularity of their levels. They can also sell their 3D models on the in-game marketplace.

Here, blockchain is used thoughtfully in combination with fundamentally engaging gameplay. Players can expect a gaming experience indistinguishable from traditional gaming, only with the enhanced features of a virtual economy.

League players can request a review of another player’s in-game conduct by putting up their participation fee as collateral. Other players review the match and decide if any cheating occurred. If malpractice is found, the accuser is rewarded and the cheater is penalized. This system, with incentives enabled by blockchain technology, protects the integrity of the game against hackers.

The game is launching on Catze’s own distribution platform, called Yooldo.
