The starting point for complete Product Lifecycle mapping
What are tokenized Digital Product Passports?
Tokenized Digital Product Passports represent a product's unique digital identity stored on the blockchain. With a DPP you are able to map the entire product lifecycle, enhancing traceability, transparency, and sustainability. DPPs provide verifiable information on origin, materials, and environmental impact, improving consumer trust and combating counterfeiting.

More about Digital Product Passports (FAQs)
A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a structured collection of product related data with pre-defined scope and agreed data ownership and access rights conveyed through a unique identifier and that is accessible via electronic means through a datacarrier. The intended scope of the DPP is information related to sustainability, circularity, value retention for re- use, remanufacturing, and recycling.
Digital Product Passport is part of the broader Eco-Design Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR) and aims to improve sustainability and circularity throughout the product lifecycle, create new business opportunities, ensure compliance with new regulations and help consumers make informed purchasing decisions.
The goals of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) are to improve sustainable production and extend product lifetimes by optimizing use and creating new business opportunities through circular value retention. DPPs support consumers in making sustainable choices, help transition to a circular economy by improving materials and energy efficiency, and enable authorities to verify compliance with sustainability regulations, as outlined by the European Commission.
Blockchain enhances DPP by creating a secure, decentralized system that ensures seamless data sharing across stakeholders. This guarantees transparency, traceability, and trust in the product’s lifecycle information, making data more accessible and reliable for businesses, consumers, and regulators.
The introduction of the DPP for specific product groups regulated under the ESPR will follow the same timeline as the introduction of other ecodesign requirements. Given the fact that the adoption of the delegated acts will depend on the progress of the standardisation process, the entry into force of the first ESPR delegated acts, including provisions on DPP, is expected in mid-2027, around the same time as the DPP for batteries of electric vehicles (defined in Art. 78 of the Batteries Regulation).
A tokenized Digital Product Passport is a product’s unique digital identity stored on a blockchain. It provides comprehensive information on the product’s origin, materials, manufacturing process and environmental impact. This contributes to transparency, traceability and sustainability, which is one of the EU’s key requirements and goals.
